EXAMINATIONS

 

The structure of the IDT Examination Suite is designed for both those who want to progress to a career in dance and those who wish to dance purely for their own enjoyment.

Our Suite of Teaching Qualications is structured to provide a strong foundation for new teachers with an emphasis on safe technique and the ever growing needs of the younger dancer. 

​

Foundation Examinations

These examinations are suitable for the youngest students aged 3-6 and are available in the following genres:

​

  • Classical Ballet

  • Modern Jazz

  • Lyrical

  • Tap

  • Singing

  • Drama

  • Acro

  • Street

​

Technical Graded Examinations

These examinations are suitable for students aged 7+ and are available in the following genres:

​

  • Classical Ballet

  • Modern Jazz

  • Lyrical

  • Tap

  • Singing

  • Drama

  • Acro

  • Street

​

Major Examinations

These examinations are available to students that have attained a successful pass at Grade 5 level and are aged 14+:

​

  • Classical Ballet (Intermediate)

  • Modern Jazz (Intermediate)

  • Tap (Intermediate & Advanced Foundation)

  • Singing (Grade 6)

  • Drama (Grade 6)

Professional Examinations

These examinations are suitable for students looking at a career in dance and are available in the three core dance genres:

  • Classical Ballet (Dancers Certificate, Dancers Diploma, Solo Seal)

  • Modern Jazz (Dancers Certificate, Dancers Diploma, Solo Seal)

  • Tap (Dancers Certificate, Dancers Diploma, Solo Seal)
