Anthony Whiteman (he/him)

 

Anthony is a freelance creative practitioner, educatonal leader and is currently the Creative Course Director and Head of Musical theatre at Rom Theatre Arts College.  Anthony obtained his MA in ‘Dance Education’ from UCA. Prior to this he was a successful West End performer, having appeared in West End shows such as Billy Elliot (Victoria Palace), The Wizard of Oz (Palladium) and White Christmas (Dominion) and numerous other West End touring productions.

 

Anthony’s specialism as a practitioner is within Musical Theatre, with a keen interest in the action and choices individuals are able to make when interacting with text, song and choreogrpahy. Within movement, Anthony has a focus on  ‘Theatre Jazz’ which encompasses technical jazz, jazz repertoire, tap dance, Musical Theatre (song and dance) and musical staging to apply what he calls ATM or Acting Through Movement.  Anthony is also the pioneer of ‘Somatic Jazz Practice.’  All of these interests are combined as progressive means to and expand what musical theatre practices are and what they could be.

Anthony also is co-director of Pivotal Productions CIC, working to support and create communities with arts based practices, such as supporting the transition from student to professional for graduates progressing beyond Higher Education performing arts institutions.
