Independent Dance Training

is a UK based dance examination awarding body and teaching association. We represent dance teachers and schools from the UK and overseas. Our Programmes of Study cover all aspects of Dance (both theatre and ballroom) and Performing Arts.

We support our members by offering: Courses & Training (both regional and head office based); Advice, and a friendly and knowledgeable ear when needed.

Accreditations

The IDT are pleased to have been awarded Full Membership and accredication with the BDQT (Board of Dance Qualifications & Training) and the British DanceSport Association

The BDQT - Board of Dance Qualifications & Training

is a Standards Organisation for the accreditation and recognition of teaching and performing

qualifications of its member Awarding Organisations and Examination Boards in Dance, Movement

and Musical Theatre throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe.

The BDSA - British DanceSport Association

is the Governing Body for Ballroom and Latin American dancing. Their mission is to unify the industry,

bring democracy to DanceSport and create a sporting regulatory regime that supports everyone.

Our Theatre Patron: Anthony Whiteman

We are proud to introduce our Theatre Patron, Anthony to our association. Anthony has had a long

association with our Head of Examinations and Operations, since 2005 when they were introduced

through the stage musical 'Billy Elliot' where Anthony was the Junior Dance Captain and also

performed in the show.

We have enjoyed watching his career blossom since the early days and are looking forward to

seeing Anthony at some of our events this year where he will be presenting awards and delivering

outstanding workshops to our teachers and their students.
